As requested by a family friend, I went over to the Yacht & Beach Club to find Hidden Mickeys. This post will cover the Yacht Club and the Beach Club Villas. Earlier this year, the Yacht Club lobby underwent renovations and the Beach Club’s renovations were finishing up for its reopening date, May 30. The two resorts are considered sister resorts and share many things, including their amenities. These resorts share what most consider to be the best feature pool on property, Stormalong Bay. Some highlights include the lazy river, the sand bottom, and the shipwreck slide that goes over the walkway around Crescent Lake.
The Yacht & Beach Club are very close to being mirror images of each other, with the exception of the Beach Club Villas and the Convention Center. Each exterior has its own color scheme. Yacht Club is grey, Beach Club is blue, and the Beach Club Villas are green. Personally, I found the color scheme of the Yacht Club to be very dark, and I preferred the Beach Club overall.

Disney’s Beach Club Villas

Hallways
At the Beach Club Villas, there were quite a few Hidden Mickeys to be found. At Animal Kingdom Lodge, there were a multitude of Mickeys in the rock work. At the Beach Club Villas, there are many found in paintings. There is a beautiful mural in the Breezeway, which leads out to their quiet pool.

Mickey can be found floating in the sky and in the railing pattern. Looking at the window of the building, which I believe is reminiscent of the exterior of the Yacht & Beach Club, Mickey can be seen waving. This is not officially in the book, but I thought it was worth pointing out because it is a unique Hidden Mickey, as it is a full body shadow of Mickey. I imagined Mickey is doing a meet and greet inside of the hotel. The last one in this mural, that is mentioned in the book, is questionable in my opinion. Mickey is supposed to be found in the sand. I needed to watch Hidden Mickey Guy’s video in order to locate it. I’m not sure if Mickey has been washed away by some waves, but I did not really see it. What do you think?

I walked out of the Breezeway towards the hallways to find Mickey in the carpets. The Hidden Mickeys depicted in the book, created by flower vines, are unfortunately no longer there; however, in the new carpet Hidden Mickeys can be found created by bubbles.

I walked towards the bathrooms to find the next Hidden Mickey. Located in another paining, there is a steam engine. In the coal car , there are three pieces that form a classic Hidden Mickey. This is a wonderful homage to Walt Disney and his love for trains. The book considers this one to be A Real Tuffy, I did not find this one to be too difficult, but it is tiny.
On the Grounds

As Sebastian says, “life is the bubbles”. On the grounds of the Beach Club Villas, there is a statue of the Little Mermaid. At the bottom of the statue there are three seashells that form a Hidden Mickey. I started this Hidden Mickey hunt almost three years ago, and the photo that I took then is better than the photo that I took recently. The Hidden Mickey is currently more difficult to spot as it seems to be painted over, but if you know what you are looking for it can still be found!
Solarium

The Solarium is my favorite part of the Beach Club to visit. It is located between the resort lobby and the villas. While I was on the hunt for Hidden Mickeys, I spoke with some Cast Members at the Beach Club Marketplace. They recommended that I check out the Solarium for Hidden Mickeys, and they are not wrong! There are three paintings on the wall that are chock-full of Hidden Mickeys. Mickey can be found on Mickey-themed balloons, spare tires, car hood ornaments, the funnel stack of a Disney ship, a beach towel, a cloud, a tree, and a building.
Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
While in the book there were only five Hidden Mickeys at the Yacht Club to begin with, most of these are gone. I believe the renovations began prior to the closure in 2020, and these refurbishments continued so when the resort opened for the NBA bubble, they were nearly complete.
Hallways

In the hallways, Hidden Mickeys can still be found, just not the ones depicted in the book. Outside of the elevators, I was able to find four Hidden Mickeys in this one piece of carpet.
Main Lobby

The next Hidden Mickey can be found on the globe, inside the lobby. This one can be tricky to spot, but you are able to rotate the globe. Located in the Southern Ocean, between the southeast tip of Africa and Antarctica, there is a sea serpent and a blue Hidden Mickey which blends in well.

In the lobby, there was a cabinet that had a reference to Mickey and his friends. Sadly, the cabinet as well as the carpet in the lobby are gone; however, the carpet featured in the book, I was able to capture three years ago. At that time the cabinet was already gone.

As Sharpay Evans would say, “out with the old and in with the new.” There is a Hidden Mickey in the new carpets of the lobby. It brings me joy to help a Cast Member discover something new about the place they work. A piece of magic that can be shared with future guests. I talked to a Cast Member, working the front desk and I asked her about what Hidden Mickeys were left in the lobby. She only knew about the one on the globe. Another Cast Member overheard this conversation and quickly chimed in that there was a new one in the carpet, but you have to stand at a particular angle in order to be able to see it. Lo and behold, we found it!
Yachtsman Steakhouse

There is a Hidden Mickey that can be found inside the Yachtsman Steakhouse, but this dining location is sadly still closed. This particular Hidden Mickey has a lot of history to it, which is shared in the book. The Hidden Mickey can be found in the spots of the cow, Minnie Moo. The picture is inside the restaurant as a tribute to her. While the restaurant is currently closed, I thankfully have a picture from three years ago. I recall the Cast Member who escorted me to the picture was very proud of this Hidden Mickey.
Toni’s Favorite Hidden Mickey
This concludes the Hidden Mickeys at the Beach Club Villas and the Yacht Club. If I ever had the opportunity to buy into Disney Vacation Club, Beach Club Villas would definitely be my first choice. There are many pros to this resort: Stormalong Bay, walking distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, Skyliner access, and of course some pretty cool Hidden Mickeys. My favorite one was difficult to choose here because there are so many good options, but I would have to go with the new Hidden Mickey on the rug of the Yacht Club Lobby. Just to reiterate what I said earlier, I love the interactions that I have with Cast Members as I am searching for Hidden Mickeys. This one in particular, not only did I learn about it, but a Cast Member also had the opportunity to learn about it. There are so many small details throughout the Walt Disney World property. How many times had that Cast Member walked over or looked at that rug and never noticed the Hidden Mickey, but now they will never be able to unsee it!

Thank you for joining me, I will see you next week when I cover the rest of the Beach Club and one other resort. Which one could it be? Any requests on Disney resorts or areas of the theme parks you would like me to cover next, please leave in the comments.
I LOVE the Yacht Club’s Mickey rug best of all! I’m gonna need to visit there next time!
